Susannah Straughan, Notreallyworking

Welcome to Notreallyworking – a blog that celebrates movies, sport, subtitles and subversive humour. I make no apologies for expressing strong opinions here, but I do try to keep it clean in case my nephews happen to be reading . . .

I set up this site in 2010 as my online portfolio, after leaving my job as a sub-editor on the Films section of Radio Times magazine. Before that, I worked in book and magazine publishing from the mid-80s onwards. I’m old enough to remember when desktop publishing (DTP) was cutting-edge technology in the industry!

When I’m not blogging I take on freelance copy-editing and proofreading assignments.

I also volunteer as a blogger for the Twentieth Century Society, where I do a regular round-up of exhibitions.

Earlier this year I was writing descriptions of 18th-century landscape gardens designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. You can read all about the Capability Brown Festival and many of the gardens (big and small) here.

If you’d like to hire me as a blogger or for editorial work, please leave a message for me below, tweet me @susannah63, or check me out at LinkedIn.

Thanks for reading!
